By Anthony Richards One of the largest sporting events in existence is coming together near our neighborhood of the globe. Cue the brass and strums up the strings; the Olympics Games are nearly here! Being hosted in Vancouver, BC, the 2010 Winter Olympics are going to run from February 12th through the 28th as the top competitors in winter sports come together and compete for World titles and you can bet some of our Peninsula College own are going to watch the action.

Haiti recovers from the darkness in wake of disaster

By Yu Chung Sze and Melissa Sisson On January 12 at 4:53 p.m. Haiti experienced an epic disaster in the form of a 7.0 magnitude earthquake. An estimated 3 million people, a third of Haiti's population needs emergency relief. According to BBC news, "The confirmed death toll from Haiti's devastating earthquake has risen above 150,000 in the Port-au-Prince area alone," says a Haiti government communications minister Marie Laurence Jocelyn Lassegue.
