The trip was organized by Christian Club Facilitator Francis Kyle and funded by several clubs on campus. The Communication Career Club, Christian Student Fellowship, IT Club and ASC all helped fund the trip so students interested in going did not have to pay any fees.
EMP is next to the Seattle Center and Space Needle and is home to more than 80,000 pieces of music artifacts. A restaurant and lounge are located inside the museum along with a gift shop and a Compaq Digital Lab where visitors can access anything located in the museum via computer.
A sculpture composed of over 700 musical instruments-mainly guitars-stands taller than two stories in the middle of the museum.
Featured exhibits include "Beatlemania! American Meets the Beatles, 1964" and a Bruce Springsteen photo gallery. Another section of the museum is the Northwest Passage, which is a history of music in the Pacific Northwest area featuring artists such as Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Nirvana and Heart.
The Guitar Gallery shows the evolution of the guitar from 1800 to present day. The Sound Lab is where visitors can try out their musical talents on drums, guitar, bass and keyboards as well as record their music.
Milestones is an exhibit which showcases artists such as Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Bob Dylan, Elvis and others. "Hendrix" is an area devoted entirely to Jimi Hendrix.
The museum originally was intended to be focused on Hendrix alone but was expanded during the planning stages.
