The event "Making it Last! Solutions for Sustainable Living in Clallam County" is scheduled to take place at Peninsula College on March 30 and 31.
The goal of the event is to increase awareness of environmentally sustainable lifestyles for the benefit of the community.
Day one of the event begins with two presentations from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Little Theatre.
The first presentation is "Climate Change and the Pacific Northwest" with Nate Mantua from the University of Washington, followed by, "Northwest Sustainability: What will it Take?" with Alan Durning, founder of Sightline Institute.
Day two of the event will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the PC Pirate Union Building. There will be workshops, films, speakers, a discussion panel, and activities for children. Lunch will be available from Joy's Bistro.
"Making it Last" is planned as a "Zero Waste Event," intended to avoid any contribution to landfill. Recyclable or compostable materials are used instead of items that would contribute to the waste stream.
Admission is free.
Event supporters include: Built Green of Clallam County, Huxley College of the Environment, North Olympic Land Trust, North Peninsula Builders Association, Public Utilities Department, Olympic Park Institute, and the Puget Sound Action Team.
