Issue date: 5/13/09 Section: PC News Briefs
First Amendment week brought all the local media heads to Peninsula College Studium Generale to discuss the changing roles of news delivery.
Scott Wilson, The Port Townsend
Leader. Sue Ellen Riesau, The Sequim Gazette. John Brewer, The Peninsula Daily News. Todd Orloff, KONP radio. These are the men and women who bring us our news each week here on the peninsula.
Frank Garred, publisher emeritus, led the discussion about issues affecting news delivery. Advertising sales are down and the discussion centered on how to maintain circulation and readerships.
Newspapers and radio are learning how to reinvent themselves with their print and the online versions while grappling with
declining bottom line. The publishers agreed; small locally owned newspapers are here to stay.
