The Mytouch 3G is a solid phone that in several ways is more competent than the iphone. Although it does come with some drawbacks, in most respects it's a better bang for your buck.
One of the strongest features of the Mytouch is its sleek looking design that is sure to catch eyes. The smart phone comes in three colors including black, merlot red, and probably the most publicized color white.
If you truly desire to make your phone original, T-mobile's web site has an area where owners can design relatively inexpensive skins and shells for their phones. The shells can be fully customized for the individual. Some options include uploading any picture or design to their easy to use site, and having them make the case a mural.
The outer design features a 3.2-inh touch screen display as well as a scroll ball and six buttons including call, end, menu, home, back, and search. The buttons are nice to have for a few reasons. If your screen gets cracked, or you don't want to touch it for whatever reason, there are the buttons.
The Mytouch Operating System matches the phone's sleek look. It is easy and fun to use. Maybe its most useful feature that cannot be found on the iphone is its notification bar that appears on the top of the screen. This feature allows you to see updates, missed calls, new texts and more at a glance. The bar can be pulled down from the top of the screen, scrolled through, and selected from. It makes checking everything a breeze.
Although the music interface on the Mytouch is perfectly functional, it doesn't boast the elegance of I tunes. Yet a plus for the Mytouch are the superior headphones that are included in the package.
Really the biggest problem I found with the phone was the single input port. On the under side of the phone is a single mini USB port that serves as the charging port, computer hook up port, and even headphone port. The phone comes with a small USB to headphone converter that has to be used as a connecter in order to plug in headphones.
The most redeeming quality about this phone, that outweighs the few disadvantages, is the price of the service. T-mobile offers a plan including unlimited mobile web, unlimited text messaging to all networks, and 300 minutes of anytime talk plus free weekends for $64.98 a month. Where as AT&T's iphone with the same package but 150 more minutes comes to $89.99 a month.
The Mytouch and iphone are very similar phones. They both have their strengths and weaknesses, but in the end I have to say the Mytouch's affordability makes it a winner.
